The Dumbbell Shoulder press is one of the most popular shoulder exercises out there!
As with any exercise, we must ensure we are doing things correctly!
Do's
Make sure the bench is at the highest position the bench can go, or one slightly below based of comfortability.
Ensure your feet are firmly placed onto the ground as well as your lower back
At the start, having your wrist and elbow stacked above each other to fully utilize the shoulder and triceps.
While pressing, keeping the arms slightly in front of you a slightly reduced chance of injury for some people (beginners or people with poor shoulder health / mobility)
Don'ts
Pressing and having your arms be in front or behind your body, this creates an environment for unsafe pressing.
Having your feet come up from the ground at any point, this reduces the overall power output by destroying our base with our feet.
Letting the Dumbbells knock into each other at the top, with equal opposite forces being applied controlling the dumbbells becomes extremely difficult.
